Only when vitamin D3 was given via a bolus
through a protected gelatinous capsule at the same dosage
used in this experiment (Scanga et al., 2001) or fed as a
mixed powder at a higher dosage of vitamin D3 (Karges et
al., 2001; Montgomery et al., 2002) was there a decrease in
feed intake, average daily gain, final body weight, hot carcass
weight, and fat thickness.
