guidelines for preventing occupational blood exposure,
called Universal Precautions, rely on the use of PPE to
prevent nonpercutaneous exposures.5 However, Universal
Precautions does not state explicitly which types
of PPE should be used for particular procedures (except
for some procedures requiring gloves). Rather, the general
