We intend to evaluate if the segmentation results for
melanoma detection images depend on the color space used for
computing the pixel similarity distance and if there is a need
for a specific segmentation method to be developed or existing
methods can be used. We compare the results of a complex
segmentation method defined for the HSV color space that
used variable threshold and non-uniform hue quantization and
a simple region growing method implemented for RGB,
YCbCr and HSV color spaces.
