nurse prescribing:
■ Possible side-effects
■ What the medicine does
■ How it works
■ Probability of the medicine’s
effectiveness
■ The risks of not taking the medicine
■ How medicines will interact with
each other.
This paper proposes that all health
professionals have a responsibility to
communicate these essential pieces
of information to contribute to the
therapeutic relationship between the
clinician and patient, and to improve
medication adherence
