Pyrolysis temperature significantly influenced the production of
biochar, bio-oil and syngas (Fig. 2). Biochar yield decreased from
48% to 24%, but syngas yield increased from 34% to 54% when
pyrolysis temperature was increased from 300 to 700 C. The maximum
bio-oil yield (27%) was obtained at 500 C. Biochar yield
decreased by almost 50% when pyrolysis temperature was
increased from 300 to 700 C. The decrease in biochar yield was
explained by thermal degradation of cellulose, hemicellulose, and
lignin into syngas and bio-oil at the high pyrolysis temperature.
