In the study 5 L of commercial pure Aronia juice (A. melanocarpa)
(Rabenhorst, Unkel/Rhain, Germany) was centrifuged for
15 min at 5950g (HiCen XL, Herolab, GmbH Laborgeräte, Germany).
Subsequently, absorption of phenolic compounds and removal
of sugars was performed on the XAD-16 column
(Kammerer, Kljusuric, Carle, & Schieber, 2005; Schieber et al.,
2003; Seeram, Lee, Hardy, & Heber, 2005) previously conditioned
with methanol and water. The supernatant obtained was loaded
into column, and sugars were removed by water until sugary pale
yellow eluate had been without a colour. Phenolic compounds
were removed from XAD-16 by ethanol. The remaining solvent
was evaporated by Laborota 20 – Control (Heidolph, Schwabach,
Germany) at 40 C up to the final volume of aqueous extract 2 L.
Aqueous Aronia extract was separated into 250 mL portions and
subjected to drying processes.
