By classifying students in subsequent
biochemistry classes with respect to
whether or not they had experienced
a PEIL-based Organic Chemistry II
course, we were able to evaluate the
efficacy of the workshops on academic
performance in a related discipline.
As illustrated in Figure 3, these
data confirm the benefits of the PEIL
workshop model on the final grade
in Organic Chemistry II. More longterm
benefits were also apparent for
biochemistry final grades
