Given the sandwich layer-like structure of PV modules (see Fig. 1), processes to discompose different layers and expose the semiconductor layers, processes to separate different materials and process to extract useful materials are required for recycling PV modules. Therefore, the major process of end-of-life PV mod- ules recycling can technically be divided into three stages includ- ing delamination, material separation and metal extraction or purification, and different technologies can be applied in each stage. In the following part of this section, examples of commer- cialized PV module recycling, an overview of recent progresses in research on PV module recycling technologies will be presented to investigate the feasibility of end-of-life PV module recycling.
