While a metaanalytic
review (Moorman & Podsakoff, 1992)
revealed weak correlations between social desirability
and a number of constructs in organizational
behavior research, in the current study there
is no reason to believe that respondents deliberately
distorted their responses in any way as
participation is voluntary, anonymous, and for
research purposes only. Therefore it is unlikely
that social desirability would be a serious threat to
the validity of the study. Fourth, only one
mediator, that is, job satisfaction, is tested on the
Big Five–SWB relationship. Fifth, no direct crosscultural
comparative study is carried out in this
research.
