SAP HANA Tailored Datacenter Integration deployments are customized solutions where you can choose any
of the certified SAP HANA server vendors along with any certified SAP enterprise storage.
This reference architecture guide describes the recommended storage design of Dell Compellent SC8000
storage array for use in SAP HANA Tailored Datacenter Integration with 1-16 TB SAP HANA solutions.
Joint Dell and SAP testing showed that the storage design described in this document meets the KPI
requirements to implement SAP HANA solutions on Dell Complellent SC8000 storage arrays. on Data Systems
met the KPI requirements from SAP without running into storage capacity issues.
When implementing SAP HANA solutions using Dell CML storage arrays, following considerations should be
observed:
SAP certifies the minimum enterprise storage layout only, as described in this document.
The SAP HANA Storage Connector API for Fiber Channel is the only supported API for use with this
solution.
Each Dell Compellent SC8000 storage array may have a maximum of 8 active SAP HANA nodes.
A 16 node (16TB) SAP HANA solution will have a minimum of 2 Dell Compellent SC8000 storage arrays
This solution uses the following:
A single Dell Compellent SC8000 storage array for up to 8 active SAP HANA Nodes with one standby
node.
A second Dell Compellent SC8000 storage array for up to 16 active SAP HANA Nodes with one or two
standby nodes.
Build the storage system with single disk folder, single storage profile for HANA, volumes, disk storage.
Use following building block approach to size Dell Compellent SC8000 storage array for HANA nodes:
One Compellent Array with 2 x SC8000 controllers can be configured in the following options based
on number of HANA nodes.
One Compellent Array with 2 x SC8000 controllers for 2-8 HANA nodes (2-8TB)
(a) 2 HANA nodes: 1x SC220 with 7 x 400GB SSD + 2 x SC220 with 7+7 x 1.2TB SAS (2TB)
(b) 2-4 HANA nodes: 1x SC220 with 12 x 400GB SSD + 2 x SC220 with 12+12 x 1.2TB SAS (2-4TB)
(c) 2-6 HANA nodes: 1x SC220 with 18 x 400GB SSD + 2 x SC220 with 18+18 x 1.2TB SAS (2-6TB)
(d) 2-8 HANA nodes: 1x SC220 with 24 x 400GB SSD + 2 x SC220 with 24+24 x 1.2TB SAS (2-8TB)
