The Government needs to cooperate with other related authorities, such
as Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Tourist Police, TAT, private tourism organizations,
and to reinforce the investment in the education of the locals to
ensure tourists. As in the leisure and tourism industry tourists have a high
degree of contact with their hosts. What the host people provides has a direct
influence on the tourists’ feeling. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports should
investigate deeply into the target markets and find out the special needs and
requirements of the tourists from various countries in order to provide a level
of security to foreign tourists, commensurate to their expectations so that they
will not be concerned about their safety status while isolated from the forms
of social support and protection when they are in their home environments.
Tourism authorities should distribute more safety connected information at
information centers in order to enable tourists to obtain the relevant information
easily. That will make tourists aware of the current safety issues and
gain a perception of relative comfort and security. According to the survey,
30.7 percent of the respondents were worried about going out after dark. Increased
Police patrols in streets could deter the criminals who might otherwise
make tourists their targets.
