Aerosol
An arosol is a cloud of fine partcles suspended in a GAS.
The particles can be liquid or solid as in smoke.
The term aerosol is often aoolied to the can that produces this spray. Aerosols are used to spary such produtcs as paints and cosmetics.the contents of the can consist of the product to be sprayed and liquefied gas under PRESSURE. the gas is called a propellant because it propels the product out of the can.when the button on the top of the can is pressed a valve is opened and the product is forced out as a spray.the spray consists of the vaporized gas with the product suspended in it. An atomizer works by producing a fine spray of liquid particles without using a pressurized propellant.
Common propellants are CHLOROFLUOROCARBONS or CFCs. Over the years research has shown that CFCs are helping to create a hole in the OZONE LAYER. Steps are now being taken to replace CFCs with less damaging propellants with less chlorine and fluorine in them.
