Type of Injury. We differentiated between a ‘‘medical
attention injury’’ and a ‘‘time loss injury.’’ A soccer injury
was classified as a medical attention injury when players
received medical attention from the medical staff of the
RSFF but the injury did not prevent subsequent soccer
training or match play. A soccer injury was classified as
a time loss injury when players received medical attention
and were unable to take part in subsequent soccer training
or match play. Because of the nature of this investigation,
players’ physical complaints that did not require medical
attention were not categorized.
