This set of dimensions is hardly new.
Angyal (1), Antonovsky (2), Fromm (22),
Leighton (34), Weiss (56), and many
others have illustrated and illuminated
them. Perhaps the most notable illumination
is the novel Come Near by Alexander
Leighton (35). Gerald Caplan (9) and his
colleagues have taught the importance of
these concepts in community mental
health. But let's face it, these notions have
been expressed over the millenia in the
writings of most of the world's religious
leaders. I have only added some precision
and emphasized that it is information
rather than goods or services that is central
to the concept.
