In this work, natural dyes extracted from fruits of ivy gourd and flowers of red frangipani were used as sensitizers in DSSCs. Ivy gourd (Coccinia indica) is an indigenous plant of central Africa and Asia and is widely cultivated as a vegetable in India. Ivy gourd has been extensively used in Indian medicinal systems such as ayurvedic, unani and siddha [16]. Red frangipani (Plumeria rubra) is a popular garden plant and has been widely cultivated worldwide. The flowers of red frangipani are strongly fragrant and broadly used for ornamental purposes [17]. To our knowledge, the dyes extracted from ivy gourd fruits and red frangipani flowers have not been previously evaluated as sensitizers in DSSC. The dyes obtained from fruits of ivy gourd and flowers of red frangipani were primarily characterized by UV–Vis absorption spectra, Fourier
transform infrared (FTIR), Fourier transform Raman (FT-Raman) and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS) techniques. The performance of DSSCs fabricated with the dyes obtained
from the fruits of ivy gourd (C. indica) and flowers of red frangipani (P.rubra)wereinvestigated. Experiment details Preparation of
