In this article, we reported the optical properties of Eu3+
ions-doped Li2O-BaO-B2O3 glasses prepared at high temperature,
and the Eu2+ ions doped glass ceramics obtained by
the heating process of the as-made glasses in air. It was
found that the as-made glasses only presented a sharp emission
owing to the Eu3+ ions. The Eu2+ ions doped
glass-ceramic sample showed a strong and broad emission
band peaking at about 382 nm ascribed to the 5d–4f transition
of Eu2+ ions. The optical and structural properties of the
studied samples were investigated through the measurements
such as the excitation and emission spectra, decay,
and X-ray diffraction.
