Designed by Japanese practice UID in 2010, Nest is a small house located at the foot of a mountain near Onomichi City. Much like a nest you would find in nature, UID designed the residence to have very few space dividers, instead leaving the whole space open to allow the family who inhabit it to spend as much time as possible together.
Re-thinking traditional architectural elements like floors and walls, the architects included unique structures such as a floating wooden nest box made from things like branches and fallen leaves. Speaking about the project, UID said "Although non-sequence composition of the floors and the walls make the architectural elements look separated, they will become essentials that link architecture and the surrounding in succession, when viewing the environment on the whole.
