The relatively low losses may also reflect the high degree of biophysical and land management diversity in the region as a whole. However, many of the small number of previous erosion monitoring studies have reported similar levels of loss under traditional cultivation practices in other areas of the Middle Hills, although their differing methodologies make effective comparisons difficult.
