that religion can serve as a positive resource for strengthening human rights as we currently understand them. We shall proceed to illustrate this thesis by dealing with the following question: How does one identify positive resources of religions for human rights as presently conceived?The exercise can be reduced to three dimensions What are we looking for? Where do we look for it? And how do we look for it? What we are looking for is most easily identified. We are looking for correlations be tween religious traditions and the thirty articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Inasmuch as human rights are grounded in human digr ever, we are looking at religions not just for affirmations of human rights that can be documented, but also for positive constructions of human dignity
