These beneficial effects of the pomegranate juices were attributed
to the antioxidative properties of pomegranate polyphenols anthocyanins
and hydrolyzable tannins (such as punicalagins, punicalin,
pedunculagin, gallagic and ellagic acid esters of glucose)
(Mena, Gironés-Vilaplana, Moreno, & García-Viguera, 2011).
