M.D. Kamjorn Tatiyakavee, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, said that Gen. Dapong Ratanasuwan, Minister of Education had assigned him the task of analyzing the reasons why students have to attend tutoring schools or extra classes. TheSuandusit Poll, by Suandusit University surveyed 1,035 students in various educational levels (429 elementary and 606 secondary students) between 20th and 25th November 2015. The survey contains open questions. It was found that 83.25% of the students attend tutoring classes because they want to have more knowledge and 80.58% said that they attend tutoring classes in order to pass examinations. Also, 76.62% of the students said that it was because they did not understand what teachers taught in class while 65.80% of the students said that their parents or friends had convinced them.
