There were significant differences in both arrest location (home versus
others) and patient gender between the FAST™- and non–FAST™-
equipped groups. However, no significant difference existed in the
duration of transportation to hospital between FAST™- and non–FAST™-
equipped ambulances. The response time was significantly shorter and
the incidence of response time under 300 seconds was significantly higher
in the FAST™-equipped group. The median response times (25%-75%)
were 327 (244-429) s in the FAST™-equipped group and 381 (291-487) s
in the non–FAST™-equipped group. ACLS procedures, including tracheal
intubation and epinephrine administration, occurred more frequently in
OHCA patients transported by FAST™-equipped ambulances.
