At higher concentrations (1000 mg L−1) of both salicylic acid
and potassium phosphonate, fruit had small scattered lesions and
the lesions were superficial, i.e. lesions were restricted to the
peel, which conforms with report of Zainuri et al. (2001). On the
other hand, dark brown to black decay spots were observed and
the lesions coalesced and penetrated deep into the fruit, resulting
in extensive fruit rotting on the inoculated untreated control.
The pathogen produced abundant orange to pink conidia on such
lesions.
