To Prayat: Many thanks for taking the trouble to compile and upload the above vids. I've never before followed VOC until the recent emergence of the Lamu phenomenon. It's hard to watch the segment of heartwarming exchanges in the clip with a dry eye. Lamu's innocence and genuineness shine through.
Who could have imagined a Thai teenager who spoke not a blind word of Mandarin a year ago when she landed in the Middle Kingdom, would so take the country by storm a year later with her linguistic and singing flair, as well as with her winsome personality and looks. And who would have thought: it was precisely because of the sudden death of her father in 2013, just some 2 months after the birth of Lamu's sister, that made it all possible for Lamu to blossom and be discovered in China, thanks to some big-hearted Chinese benefactor(s). This is the stuff of Hollywood; someday they will make a movie out of her rise to stardom.
Initially, in my comment, I rated her an underdog in her singing endeavors -- not for her lack of talent but for the persnickety world of showbiz. But now I'm convinced that she is destined over time for mega success in her singing ambition; only she can derail her own career with a lost of innocence and humility, or equally worse, allowing herself to fall victim to rapacious mismanagement of her career.
