The term dietary fiber was first introduced by Eben Hipsleyin 1953 in his publication noting populations with diets high in fibre-rich foods(Hipsley, 1953), as highly complex non-digestible carbohydrates and lignins (Topping, etal.,2001), with 10 or more monomeric units,which are not hydrolyzed by the endogenous enzymes in the upper gut of humans (Phillips,2013).
