When the issue is fully addressed one will realize that under NAFTA Mexico has "transformed a $3 billion trade deficit with the U.S.in 1993 into a $75 billion surplus in 2007," but the farmers are just as poor as before the agreement
Although farmers are protesting NAFTA it is clear that is has greatly benefited Mexico and their government will not throw away even a partial benefit of NAFTA in order to silence several thousand upset farmers (Geri & Smith, 2008). Mexico has greatly aided their people by taking part in NAFTA but their country is still swamped in the sin of corruption, but if they can get the corruption under control then their country will be in a prime position to grow.
