Present study made two changes in the classic production process: (i) small moulds were replaced by larger ones (1250 9 1280 9 650 mm) and (ii) instead of bimsblock robotic production process (vibration and cutting machine), large size insulation blocks were cut into dimensioned insulation blocks using circular saw block cutting machine, which is used for cutting natural stone blocks. From this aspect present study is the first literature study in which insulation blocks were produced by using circular saw block cutting machine.
The TS EN 771-3 Standard defines the criteria related to the production and sizing of lightweight aggregate concrete masonry units and the use of these units in the construction sector as lightweight con- struction elements [25].
In addition, expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) was placed in the molds at specific intervals to improve insulation performance and reduce block weight. By using the new method, the study aimed to produce a construction element with a smoother surface, at lower cost via saving workmanship and time. Pumice-
aggregate insulation block was tested to detect not only its possible contributions in the production of single-line, cavity wall block materials complying with TS EN standards but also its use as a final product. In addition, insulation block was compared to other construction elements to make cost analysis.
