Nowadays, humans have encountered the global warming and the shortage of fossil fuel sources thus having studied the sustainable and renewable energies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the environment. Renewable energy which is solar and wind energy is increasingly interesting. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the energy storage devices such as batteries, supercapacitors and others. Normally, the development of these devices employs the electrode made of graphene, carbon nanotube, activated carbon and metal oxide groups. Modified-biomass is an alternative electrode materials which are derived from food waste and agricultural by product, due to its high surface area/porosity and also environmental friendly. Moreover, another outstanding properties of biomass is high level of oxygen and nitrogen contained in living cells. Hence, the modified-biomass could show the high device capacitance, according to the existent of those crucial elements. In this work, we synthesize the nitrogen containing carbon materials from biomass via hydrothermal method for energy storage.
