St Feuillien is an abbaye created in 1125 in the village of Le Roeux. It rapidly prospered and the beer made there became famous in Belgium and the north of France. In 1796, like many other religious establishments, the abbey was condemned by soldiers of the French Revolution. Saint-Feuillien beer disappeared, but fortunately not for long. Since 1873 the Friart family has given back St Feuillien the delicious beer it based its reputation on.
