The 12 patients were aged between 39 and 78 - ten female, two male - with a range of health concerns. Before the course began, we measured each participant's BP, weight, height, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, lipids and HbAlc to create a baseline. We also measured subjective data such as quality of sleep, overall mood, energy levels, confidence in their cooking knowledge and exercise level. Practice nurse Nicola Cave and I then delivered a structured, four-week course over four, two-hour evening sessions at the practice.
