Besides FFA, BSAwas found to increase ANGPTL4 mRNA in HCT-116 cells. Previously we found that milk proteins from the casein fraction also had an impact on ANGPTL4 mRNA, and was the main component causing the fourfold up-regulation of ANGPTL4 gene expression found with pasteurised milk (Nielsen et al., 2014). However, as seen here, pasteurised milk despite its fourfold upregulation of ANGPTL4 mRNA had no impact on the secretion of ANGPTL4 protein from cells. The effect and mechanism behind the ANGPTL4 up-regulation by BSA and casein hence needs further investigation.
