designed to evaluate patients’ self-care agency, including a
questionnaire to assess the self-care agency of patients suffering
from chronic illnesses (Honjo, 1997, 2001). Honjo (2001) indicated
that the criteria nurses tend to refer to when evaluating
patients’ self-care agency include the patients’ words expressing
their willingness to take care of themselves, their ability to track
changes in their physical condition, and their ability to use effective
support programs
