Buddhist Lent Day or Wan Khao Phansa, this day known in Thai as “Phansa” is one of important Buddhist holidays in Thailand. The Buddhist Lent Day originating from Buddhism in ancient India more than twenty-five centuries ago is on the first day after the full moon of the 8th lunar month. It marks the beginning of the three-month Buddhist "Lent" period which lasts until to the 15th day of Waxing Moon in the 11th month.
