Effect of light on Tillandsia seed germination
No differences were found in the percentage of germination of T. achyrostachys (z = −0.15; P > 0.05), T. recurvata (z = −0.64, P > 0.05) and T. schiedeana (z = −0.65; P > 0.05) between light and dark treatments (Table 1).
The highest seed germination percentage was found in T. caput-medusae (z = 1.96; P < 0.05) under white light conditions, while seed germination percentage was higher in darkness in T. circinnatioides (z = −1.96; P < 0.05) and T. hubertiana (z = 2.16;P < 0.05: Table 1).
