Conclusions
The results of our study and other studies have demonstrated
that psychoeducation can be effective in reducing internalized
stigmatization. Public mental health practice is increasing in Turkey
nowadays. To incorporate such psychoeducation programme
routine practices in this area will be effective in terms of
improving the life quality of patients suffering from internalized
stigmatization. In light of these observations, it is suggested that
psychoeducation activities intended to decrease internalized stigmatization
should be designed to include all patients and should
be incorporated into post-discharge education and included in
treatment guidelines.
