The Victorian Civil & Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) has cancelled a solicitor’s practising certificate for eight months, and banned him from employing or supervising any female law students or graduates for two years.
He had sexually harassed a female legal trainee in 2011, and last year he was ordered to pay $100,000.00 in damages. Following this ruling, Victorian Legal Services Commissioner Michael McGarvie asked VCAT to find that the solicitor was guilty of professional misconduct and sought the cancellation of his practising certificate for a year.
