Biodiesel is receiving increasing attention as an alternative,non-toxic, biodegradable, and renewable diesel fuel. There are four primary ways to make biodiesel from vegetable oils and animal fats. They are (1) direct use and blending with diesel fuel, (2)microemulsions with solvents such as methanol, ethanol and/or other alcohols, (3) thermal cracking (pyrolysis) by means of heat or by heat with the aid of a catalyst and (4) transesterification (alsoalled alcoholysis) with short chain alcohols with the presence of a catalyst. The most commonly used method is transesterification of vegetable oils and animal fats with methanol or ethanol
