If you are bringing young children I do think the movie can be a bit disturbing, as the writer said, for sensitive children. I took my 7 and 5 year old granddaughters. The 7 year old was okay with it, but the 5 year old covered her eyes several times and asked me if the daddy was going to die.The older daughter flagrantly disobeys her father which caused some discussion about why she didn't obey her dad. The father is portrayed as stupid. There is a minor romance. I guess whether or not it is appropriate for your kids depends on your kids and you. Unfortunately there are so few good P and PG films out at anyone time--when you want to go to the movies with the younger crowd often your choices are slim. Generally I take the kids out for ice cream or something after a movie and we "discuss" it. What they liked, didn't like. What bothered them, what bothered me as an adult. Let's me explain things to them if there is a misunderstanding and it helps me understand where they are coming from in regards to what they just saw.
