To address the unrealized potential of prevention, the Healthy People 2020 initiative is prioritizing the translation of evidence into action at
the community level (Brown and O'Connor, 2010). The lack of published
outcomes on the effectiveness of community-based physical activity programs at reducing MetS risk factors coupled with the call to translate evidence into action at the community level prompted the present
