At the higher educational level, reading has become the university students’ own best teacher (Gillet and Temple, 2000). In other words, in an independent learning environment, the ability in reading enables the students to be autonomous learners who can learn and understand information in many areas of study without much help from teachers. According to Badrawi (1992), reading is a helpful language skill needed for obtaining information, fostering and reacting to ideals, developing interests and, finally, deriving pleasure by reading through understanding or comprehension. Moreover, one reason for reading is to help students understand other people’s ideas
