The teacher’s task is to lead the development of the social order in the classroom For the purpose of orienting it to inquiry, and the “house rules” to be developed are the methods and attitudes of the knowledge discipline to be taught. The teacher influences the emerging social order toward inquiring when he “brings out” and capitalizes on differences in the way students act and interprets the role of investigator-which is also the role of member in the classroom.(Thelen,1960, p . 80)
