Si Sunthon is located in the central part of Phuket Island. The town is popular amongst Thais for its “Heroine’s Monument” honoring two sisters from Phuket who defended the island in the Burmese–Siamese War (1785–1786). According to popular belief, they repelled a five-week invasion by Burmese in 1785, killing male soldiers and rallying Siamese troops. There are housing projects and residential villages around town and it shows a glimpse of the simple Thai life.
