Albuquerque police are trying to sort out a narcotics sting in which one plainclothes officer unknowingly shot a fellow cop who was also undercover.
"Both officers involved were working in plainclothes and in an undercover capacity. Both officers have been with the department for many years," Albuquerque Police Department Chief Gorden Eden said in a news conference, KOAT-TV reported."There are many questions that still need to be answered and right now I just don't have the answers to those questions," he said.Neither officer was identified. After undergoing surgery, the wounded officer was listed in critical condition at a nearby hospital. "This is just an all too frequent example of how dangerous police work can be," said mayor Richard Berry.
