the Upper Pierre Jaune de Neuchaˆtel and the
Urgonien Jaune, and Sb E3 (=Ju2 of Blanc-Ale´tru,
1995). Using the data of Arnaud-Vanneau &
Arnaud (1990) and their own evidence from calcareous
nannofossils, they ascribe a Hauterivian
age to the portion below their Sb E2, a Late
Barremian age to the portion above their Sb E3,
and a Late Hauterivian to Early Barremian age to
strata between the two discontinuities. These
authors suggest that hiatuses and condensation
occur mainly in this sandwich between known
disconformities.
