Healthy sows were randomly distributed according to treatments: 1) floor heating duration (HEAT) of 12 or 48 h after BFP, combined with 2) room temperatures(ROOM) of 15°C, 20°C, or 25°C. The room temperature was controlled within the nearest 0.1°C at a relative humidity of 60% ± 2% during the entire experimental period from entry until weaning of piglets after 4 wk.The solid-floor temperature, measured by the built-in floor sensor and not influenced by sow lying behavior(Figure 1), averaged (SD) 34.8°C (2.59°C) during the HEAT treatment (12 or 48 h) for the experimental sows used.
