Construction of an additional shore spillway at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station, which began in 2005, was dictated by the need to improve the reliability and safety of hydraulic structures of the station. Shore spillway is designed primarily for the passage of extreme floods and floods of rare occurrence. Assumes the use of the shore spillway and in some cases to skip the ordinary floods.
Acceptance in the operation of the shore spillway was preceded by pre-commissioning testing facilities, which took place from September 28 to October 1, 2011.
