Sometime inaccurately called fulling, This process is the normal Korean way of dressing clothes
and cloth after making oor washing. It replaces western ironing. The clothes are folded on smooth flat
rectangular stone, made for the perpose and kept indoors.
The worker then beats the cloth rhythmically with two small paddles (pangmangi) of hardwood untill
all crcascs disappeare into the cloth. Cloth is rolled on a wooden roller call hangdukkae the sound of tadumi is nostalgically
evocative of korean life in both town and country
