In fact, this argument can be pushed even one step further, because where
there is a challenge there can also be opportunities. Solving DP problems more
efficiently is a major challenge that provides a variety of opportunities for researchers.
Many of the papers in this Special Issue address this need for effi-
ciency. Consider also the need for user-friendly general-purpose DP software.
The lack of such software is a manifestation of the tremendous difficulties associated
with the development of such products. But it also points out the obvious:
