The first element in having a unique style is knowing yourself, what works on you and what doesn’t. That also means know what you’re comfortable in because something can look great on you but if you’re not comfortable in it that will show through and take away any “style” you have.
For me, I am under five-feet tall – I’m not going into specifics ☺ I know that since I am very petite I need to keep my clothing understated because if the clothing is too loud, voluminous, or long the outfit will very easily end up wearing me – and that’s never a good look. Instead, I often opt for clean, simple streamlined clothing that doesn’t overwhelm my small body.
Since I’m petite I also need to be weary of clothing that can come off as too young. For some reason, people equate height with age and if I were to wear a ruffle, I would look twelve-years old. Knowing the body and skin you’re in is the first – and most important – step to achieving unique style.
