Arab Federation for Libraries & information (AFLI)
AFLI is a relatively new library association, more like a regional version of the
Inter:national Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). One
of their professional activities is to organize workshops in member states for
developing knowledge and skills of Librarians working in the region. They may
also include foreign librarians. According to their official website, 10 workshops or
short courses have been organized in Beirut, Cairo, Tunis, Libya, Amman (Jordan)
and Jeddah between 2003 and 2007 .The latest workshop offered in Doha, Qatar
in April 2014 was on a very timely topic on Description and availability of sources
(RDA) in the electronic environment. As a regional association, it has great potential
for providing the kind of training required for preparing nationals to bring them
